JEMUN journalism is an innovative multicultural, multi-format digital journalism simulation for both university and high school students. Each pair collaborates, explores, engages and creates digital media broadcasts in one of the eight JEMUN digital journalism roles. All of the communication between each multicultural journalist pair is in English and the news they produce are also in English. Through simulation of realistic media environments, JEMUN journalist can gain new skills and wonderful experiences at JEMUN.

“ Through JEMUN students can gain real life journalism experiences. Students have the chance to work in a model journalistic environment which provides realistic true to life media situations such as deadlines, press conferences and other interview assignments.” Angelica who is a Newspaper adviser said. She wants to give JEMUN journalists three skills; the feeling and experience of being a journalist, confidence and a new found open minded creative streak. She also believes that the JEMUN Journalism experience will provide all journalists with skills that can be applied to all working situations in their future. For example, team work, creativity and meeting deadlines are common situations in many different working environments.

“First of all, magazine journalist learns about and team cooperation because these articles, photos, videos and podcasts are made up for the JEMUN magazines.” Robert who is magazine adviser said. “It’s important to understand what everyone else is doing and to be able to interact with them.” He continued. These skills are going to be useful in many situations in over the course of their lives. They have the opportunity to talk to people to find ways to overcome problems, be able to understand issues and ask intelligent questions.

If the students want go into journalism as career, this JEMUN simulation will helps them. Even if the students do not go into journalism, it will give them the skills they need for general everyday life situations.
