This sweet country inn was once an ancient olive mill and is now owned by the Baracchi family , who own Il Falconiere . It is situated by a millstream which makes sleeping here very easy ! It has eight adorable rooms , one suitable for families , each with a different country-style décor and furnished with antiques . The fantastic restaurant ( overseen by the owners ) features local Cortona cuisine — the homemade pasta is excellent ! A lower price point than its sister property , the Locanda offers a great alternative to Il Falconiere , so guests have another option . It is located outside of Cortona but a very short drive away . This is a great base from which to explore Tuscany and Umbria as Cortona is so close to the border between the two .
