Solar Outages and Freesat

Solar Outages
It is coming to the time of year when
for a brief period of time in the
morning, you can lose some satellite
TV signals. This happens twice a
year, around February and March and
October time, around the time of the
Spring and Autumn equinoxes.
This occurs as the path of the sun
moves the sun directly behind the
satellites. When this happens the suns
energy swamps the weaker signals
(eg BBC ITV) causing a brief period
of channel loss. The channels should
return by themselves once the sun
moves out of the way.
The effect should last no more than
20-30 minutes.
