Solar Outages and Freesat Jon Worby Solar Outages It is coming to the time of year when for a brief period of time in the morning, you can lose some satellite TV signals. This happens twice a year, around February and March and October time, around the time of the Spring and Autumn equinoxes. This occurs as the path of the sun moves the sun directly behind the satellites. When this happens the suns energy swamps the weaker signals (eg BBC ITV) causing a brief period of channel loss. The channels should return by themselves once the sun moves out of the way. The effect should last no more than 20-30 minutes. Th
