I wish to thank Antoni Miragall,
the Councillor for Fiestas for all
his efforts, thanks to which it was
possible to hold a parade which we
will remember with fondness and
pride. This is the way forward!
On a personal level, Christmas is
always a good time to enjoy the
company of family and friends and
to celebrate my birthday.
During this period we received good
news in the form of a Supreme Court
ruling. Xàbia Town Hall will recover
almost 3 million euros which was paid
some years ago for the expropriation
of 95,000 m2 of land located in the
area of Capsades.
Now this large tract of land will enjoy
the protection granted by the previous
General Plan and the municipal
coffers will enjoy a major boost.
This legal decision gives us the
power to manage our territory from a
sustainability aspect without the fear
having to pay huge compensation.
On this subject, the Department for
Urban Development, headed by
Isabel Bolufer, is doing a great job,
and this will soon be reflected in the
new General Plan.
In addition, I am pleased to announce
that we have taken the first steps,
for the new auditorium in Xàbia to
become a reality during this current
legislature.
The green light has been given for
the planning specifications, and this
cultural infrastructure will become an
icon not only for us but for the whole
region.
With regard to the subsidy we
received from the Alicante Provincial
Government for the renovation of the
Central Cinema, these 600,000 euros
will not be lost, but will be allocated
to the renovation of the Avenida
Ultramar (second Montañar) ; a major
tourist area.
But the focus of our management will
still be our people and what affects
them most directly.
During the month of December we
increased the number of personnel
in the OAC (Citizen’s Help Office)
to meet the applications for the
plan XarxaLlibres, a project of
the Valencian government and cofunded between Alicante and Xàbia,
which gives families free access to
school textbooks. In addition, the
Town Hall has adhered to the plan
to combat energy poverty that has
been implemented by the Valencian
