Dylan Thomas Inspired Whip-round Jávea Players Once again (April 29), the Javea Players’ Studio Theatre had a near capacity audience. On stage were members of the Javea Book Circle reading their presentation ‘Before Milkwood’, an adaptation of three of Dylan Thomas’s much admired pieces of prose, two short stories, ‘A Visit to Grandpa’s’ and ‘The Outing’ and his script for the BBC, ‘A Return Journey to Swansea’. The readers captured the energy, humour and creativity of Wales’ best-known poet for an appreciative audience When he introduced the presentation Mike Harvey, the Javea Players’ Chairman, confessed his strong Swansea connections and suggested that members of the audience, who so wished, could use the basket on the bar to make a donation to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal. A whip-round at the bar might well have been the way Dylan would go about helping a very worthy cause – it certainly worked wonders last Wednesday - 255 euros found their way into the basket.
