José Chulvi,
Mayor of
Jávea
Dear Friends;
Once again, just as I have been
doing over the past four years,
I am writing to you through this
media, which the management of
the Grapevine so kindly provides
to me as your Mayor.
This month is no exception to
what has been my usual workload
over the past years, with 168
appointments noted in my diary.
It is difficult for me to summarise;
but I’ll give it a go!
March started off with my
attendance at the Race for Women,
when funds were raised for the
fight against breast cancer.
I was also fortunate to receive
the visit of several distinguished
visitors during this time, in
particular two French mayors
who were interested in my work
at the Town Hall, and our method
of communication with our foreign
residents.
I also received the visit of Patxi
López, my colleague in the PSOE,
and the former President of the
Basque Country, with whom I had
an interesting conversation about
the future, but also about the past.
He told me how bad it had been
during the time of ETA’s terrorist
activities.
He, like many colleagues in my
party, received death threats, but is
proud to have been the President
who brought an end to the terrorist
group.
