Who do you know who is
British and lives abroad?
The next UK election is the most important
in a generation - and it’s vital that everyone
who can vote in UK General Elections helps
to secure a better future for Britain. Over 5
million British people live abroad, virtually
none are registered to vote - despite the
fact it’s now really simple to do online. In
fact, it only takes 5 minutes to sign up for a
postal vote.
You can register as an overseas voter for
up to 15 years after leaving the UK, as long
as:
You’re a British citizen
and you were registered to vote in the UK
within the previous 15 years (or, in some
cases, if you were too young to have registered when you left the UK).
Why not think of three people you know who
live abroad and encourage them to vote by
sending them this message and sending
them this link:
www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Remember, as a UK Citizen resident in
Spain, it is important to vote in the Local
Municipal Elections in Spain but you are
not permitted to vote in the main Spanish
National Government Elections, your only
National vote is in the UK and then only if
you have lived abroad less than 15 years
so don’t lose it USE IT.
If you prefer to send your registration
by post, printed UK Voter Registration
forms are available from the Portal Clot
Information Office, courtesy of JCA,
