Target: Both Spanish and English
speaking members of the public
(particularly the British) interested
in travel and Mediterranean lifestyle.
Story line: Young Londoner, Jane
takes an unexpected and life
changing trip to the Mediterranean
Jane travels from London into the
hills of the Marina Alta region, with
great expectations from the estate
of her late aunt Susan. However,
the estate isn’t money - it actually
is a property and Wintersun comes
with a heap of complications, not
helped by Jane’s attitude to everyone she meets. Sento, Reme, Roig,
the Mestre and Cathy are part her
aunt’s past - but the question is will
they become part of hers - or can
she sell up and get out fast?.
Premise behind the series: There
are several movies and series
that have become good examples
of branded content associated
with a territory. All are comedies
whose premise is: someone travels to a place against their will and
achieved success after a traumatic
induction into local mores.
Notable examples: El chiringuito
de Pepe (2014) used to promote
Peñíscola and supported by the
Provincial Government of Castelló;
Doctor Mateo (2009) promoting
Asturias; Primos (2011) for Comillas, Cantabria; Entre Copas aka
Sideways (2004) for California; the
sister movies Bienvenidos al norte
(2008) and y Bienvenidos al sur
(2010) that nor only saw an increase in Tourism of 200%, but
also became blockbusters in their
own right. financing
Wintersun had a budget of 50,000
euros for the first season, which
was met by both public & private
sponsors as well as individual
patrons through the crowfunding
campaign.
