Javea addresses the new challenges of policing and response to
cyber crime and domestic violence

Conference of
Crime
Prevention and
Public Safety
The Second Conference of crime
prevention and public safety will
be held from 25 to 27 February
The council Public Safety Town
Hall of Javea, Juan Ortolá, has
announced the 2nd Conference on
Crime Prevention & Public Safety,
a forum for discussion and debate
for professionals in the field of
security and justice, policy makers
and students to be held from 25 to
27 February.
Sr Ortolá and the head of
local police in Javea, José Antonio Monfort, mayor have extended
the content of this Conference to
reflect the interests and themes
of the speakers (professionals of
state security bodies, members
of the judiciary and technicians in
social or psychological areas) all
leaders in their respective fields.
The sessions are structured by
topic. Opening on Wednesday,
February 25 with “new challenges
for local police” (not specific caseloads) including “bous al carrer”
Bulls in the Street crowd control
atshows and public events and
the response to crimes of disobedience, resistance and brawl.
The opening day will also feature
a practical and theoretical talk that
includes a display of the Canine
Unit of the Police of Alicante.
25 to 27th
February
Javea
Day 2 focuses on technology, information and proximity, with special attention social networks and
experiences of police in Gata de
Gorgos in this regard. It will also
discuss community policing with
former CEO of the UK Met Police
in London, Sir Bryan Hayes. Looking at the challenges the equivalent unit attached to the Police
Castellón.
The Science discussion includes
the mathematical model PredCrime (on the realtime prediction
of offenses) and a security and
safety talk on social networks, tech
crime plus cybercrime penalties
after the reform of the Penal Code.
The last day will focus on the role
of public authorities against one of
the biggest problems faced today:
gender violence; cultural causes
and consequences, prevention beforehand as well as its occurence
and effect on younger generations
and police & judicial intervention.
The final session will delve into the
profile of the perpetrator with criminologist Vicente Garrido and the
implications for police.
The Second Conference on Crime
Prevention and Public Safety will
take place initially in the Salón de
Actos · Casa Primicias · 03730
Xàbia so, although attendance
is free, it is mandatory to register
because if its capacity (150 seats)
is exceeded it will be necessary to
find an alternative venue. Those

The Security council noted that,
last year, we had 90 attendees to
participate in Javea forum which
was a very positive experience, so
this year more attendees are expected.
