| Jávea Grapevine No.173 2015 The Art Centre Association in Javea do valuations of antiques and collectables, EVERY Monday morning at the Art Centre. Valuations cost €3 per item or set. The total proceeds will benefit the charity, ‘HELP’ of Denia and Marina Alta. As many of you will know we hosted the Antiques Roadshow every year for the past 3 years. The first was in May 2011. The queues were long and the team of experts could really do with more time to advise people and do the research. We have an extensive library on antiques here at the Art Centre. We can talk privately as to where people might be able to sell their family heirlooms. (without the children knowing?) As we get older many of us would like to sell our antiques but are worried about being ripped off. We have access to 9 experts and can cover every aspect of antiques and collectibles. We don’t buy, or sell for you but we will advise you properly. The charge is €3 per item (or set). For example a dinner service would be a set (at €3) and one only need bring 3 or 4 items of the set to have it valued, though extra photos could be helpful. Bubblewrap, towels or blankets are better for wrapping than newspaper. Ebay can be a great place to sell but it can be a tedious process. One has to take close up accurate photos and write a very detailed description. There is also commission to pay to Ebay for online auctions and there is a fee to pay even if you don’t sell. It’s sometimes better when you have found out what something is worth, to let someone else do all the work, so they can sell it on for a profit. Should you wish to sell your items; the experts will be able to suggest the best course o b7F
