at bottom roundabout). It was
toxically xenophobic, expensive
and with bad muzak….. but we
hear it’s under new management

beautiful Granadella creek (down
off the Cabo de la Nao and the
No.1 beach of the Marina Alta);
certainly the best fish restaurant in
Jávea (they own their own boat and
sometimes have an extraordinary
variety !). Our absolute favourite
for fish and a beautiful location.

Outside the Ermita supermarket
(by the little church on the Jávea
to Jesús Pobre road) at 10:00h on
a Saturday morning is to be found
an enterprising Dutchman (Arjen)
who is selling fresh martjes,
smoked eel, roll-mops, smoked
mackerel, buckling (a herring
smoked whole – as opposed to
kippers which are smoked flat),
smoked trout and potted shrimps
……. There are no further frozen
HERRINGS for the moment due
to change of supplier in Holland.
