AMARRE TAPAS : along the Jávea seafront nearly opposite La Siesta. Reports are still not encouraging. This is in no way up to the same standard as their excellent restaurant (above). Service was over-familiar and the muzak atrocious (drowning out the sound of the sea; we were told the screaming female gave “ambiance” – my foot !). For music-hating tourists only. AND ANOTHER TIP for FISH & CHIPS : For excellent FISH & CHIPS try THE INN on the GREEN (Bowling Club on the Jávea - Benitachell road) !! CHANGE OF LOCATION - BEST FISH of the region Restaurante LES BRETONNES BEACH : Has now moved (early June) from opposite the La Senieta Theatre to this lovely spot overlooking the sea in Cala de l’Andrago (off, left, at the 1st small roundabout southward on the Moraira-Calpe road). We were overwhelmed by the new experience - the superb food, the beauty of the décor and the charming reception (in both English & French). They are already provoking favourable reports. Must book at weekends. Four of us enjoyed a truly excellent meal. This new opening establishes Les Bretonnes as the No.1 fish establishment for many miles around (perhaps it was already ?). Their range of fish, especially of wild fish, lobsters (from Brittany) including “thermidor” and “l’armoricaine” and oysters (including the famous Gillardeau number 1 !), is quite astonishing. Also on offer are scallops, cabillaud/cod, lubina, dorada  and many other sorts of fish and fruits de mer – the range is huge.
