At the end of July, Xàbia Police
surprised two men when they were
fishing in the Marine Reserve of Cap
de Sant Antoni, where it is totally
illegal. It was during one of the daily
surveillance trips. The agents opened
proceedings against the two, one
of whom is a French National, for
fishing with a boat in a protected area
and the extraction of fish. In addition,
they seized all the gear, spear guns,
wetsuits and buoys.
The City Council reminds everyone
that sport fishing is prohibited in
the Marine Reserve, a protected area
within the Natural Park Montgó area.
This year, Xàbia is conducting special
monitoring to stop poaching and to
prevent the illegal sale of fish.
