As part of their current fundraising campaign , Spangles is putting on a special show with Motown singer , Barrington , aptly named ‘ A Cappella Meets Motown ’, at the Restaurante Asturias in Punta Prima , Murcia on Friday , 24 June at 8.00 pm . They ’ re selling fast , so don ’ t delay . “ We ’ re really looking forward to performing with Barrington again ; he ’ s a brilliant entertainer and it ’ s fun to combine two styles of singing in one show .” said Wendy Grant , Spangles ’ Musical Director .
Thirty Spangles ladies will be competing at the annual convention of the Irish Association of Barbershop Sings ( IABS ) in Cork , Ireland this coming October . Needless to say , the cost of music , costumes , travel and accommodation for Cork is quite high , so the chorus has been fundraising since January to help chorus members , with events such as table top sales , pop up restaurant , concerts , raffles and tombolas . ‘ A Cappella Meets Motown ’ is the next event and Spangles really hope you will come along .
Spangles is very excited about their trip to Cork , Ireland . “ We are honoured to be the first chorus ever to represent the Spanish Association of Barbershop Singers ( SABS ) at the Irish convention ” remarked Wendy . “ We ’ ve won our national contest three times and can ’ t compete in our championship year , so this is a way for us to keep ahead of the game . We will be competing in the international chorus contest against some stiff opposition from other European countries , raising the bar , which all helps to improve our own performance ” she added .
