Australian Artist visits Javea Stephanie Jane Rampton Born the UK Stephanie obtained a degree in Art and Design in England in the late seventies. After a year in New York and many years teaching in Hong Kong she relocated to Melbourne in 1997. Her interest in etching was sparked by workshops at the Australian Print Workshop and the National Art School. She has since been in numerous group exhibitions (including in Barcelona) in Europe, Australia and the Far East and has held several solo shows. Highly commended in the 2013 Waterhouse natural Science Art Prize, with the work subsequently exhibited at the National Archives, Stephanie was selected for the 2015 Burnie Print Prize. Represented by Port Jackson Press, Melbourne, her work is held by the Australian Print Workshop, The National Gallery of Australia, The Brooklyn Arts Library and the Australian Consul General to Guangzhou. www.portjacksonpress.com.au http://qgw.com.au I caught up with Stephanie in Javea Port and what follows is a short Q and A session from a recent interview together with some photos of the etching processes involved in her work.
