When my dear friend from college invited me to her summer home in the Upstate New York Adirondack Mountains , I had no idea the visit would change my life . My first travels there were in the early 90 ’ s , to the southern village of Speculator . As soon as I entered the park , consisting of 1 million acres , the atmosphere changed .
All street signs were brown instead of green , and all trees were tall , majestic , and pine . The smell was invigorating . Lakes and of course , mountains , were all the eye could see . I immediately felt a peace and a connection to nature . My love was so instant that as I walked past the village of Speculator ’ s “ Four Corners ,” I began to envision characters for a story .
I imagined someone moving to a mountain location who wanted to belong , but only knew city-ways . That one afternoon of daydreaming is now a three-book contemporary romance series named Surrendering Time . ENTRUSTED , ENTANGLED , and the June release , ENGAGED , are all based from Speculator .
Speculator itself boasts a lot of reasons to visit . Hamilton County has no traffic lights at all . Speculator has a four-way stop sign , giving the famous “ Four
