Many Christians have become discouraged and have slowly slipped into doubt and silent frustration not because they don’t love God but simply because of the challenging experiences and pain they have gone through in life. We go through the motions of church attendance, worship and prayer because it’s expected of us, however we have searching questions within our hearts. We compare our practical life experience with the Bible and because it does not match up with our “reality”, we come to the wrong conclusion that God’s Word appears to work for other people but not for us personally. There appears to be a gap between the Scriptures and our daily experience and we become like Gideon who asked the Angel of the Lord in Judges 6:13, “...O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.” But I came with a word of encouragement and a word of wisdom to help - and it is this: 1.This journey of life is in a cycle of seasons. 2.Seasons come and they also go - they never remain indefinitely. We are generally not surprised when a particular season either summer or winter sets in, we know and take it for granted that it will soon pass. 3.Each season has its own characteristics as well as blessings and challenges associated with those characteristics. For example, the winter season has its characteristics – it’s cold and snowy and the challenge is that, we need of necessity, to adapt to the cold weather associated with winter if we want to get through it and overcome. 4.There are seasons of great grace and provision and others when you have to persevere and journey through the “valley of the shadow of death”. 5.The timing and passage of each season depends on the specific purpose for each person and also how we submit and adapt to God’s dealings with us during that season.
