seeing continued growth in the stature of artists performing at JAS. The 2017 Labor Day Experience artist line-up included the some of the biggest artists in JAS’ history, and ended with record attendance & sales, driven by advance sell-outs of the Maroon 5 and Keith Urban, plus a near sell-out by the legendary Daryl Hall & John Oates, making their JAS debut. The programming alliance with AEG has enabled JAS to stay competitive in the attraction of major artists who generally perform in much larger venues than JAS. AEG also continues to provide strong marketing support in addition to their programming assistance. • Update of JAS Strategic Plan (2017-2019): JAS designated a Board-driven internal update of the JAS Strategic Plan, engaging in extensive research of key stakeholders of JAS regarding the most critical programming components of the organization, and how best to strengthen and secure the future of JAS’ core Mission objectives. The Strategic Planning Committee worked through the 2016 year to identify key strategies across all programs with the intention of presenting to the full JAS Board for discussion, modification and ultimate adoption. In 2017, JAS took major steps in executing one of its last long reaching initiatives, the desire to establish a permanent home for its many small venue performances and music education programs. That goal took a major step forward when JAS identified a potential location to establish “The JAS Center” and started the process of building a formal Capital & Endowment Campaign to fund the project over a 5-year basis. The process began in earnest in mid-2017 and remained an active topic of planning and discussion internally throughout the 2017 year. In summary, the 27th Anniversary season of JAS was a success on all levels, and positioned JAS well to continue its momentum with optimism and confidence that the organization has built an institution that has taken its place as one of the essential arts presenters and educators in the Roaring Fork Valley, and one with a growing national and international reputation.
