Bella

JAS Pays to Play
Bella is a Glenwood Springs High School 9th grader who plays the piano and clarinet . She started the piano when she was 3 years old and loved it . When she was able to join band in 6th grade she took the opportunity to pick up a new instrument : the clarinet . By utilizing JAS In-Schools programming Bella improved her musical skills through introductions to more advanced and challenging music , which she otherwise would not have access to .
To prepare for clarinet competitions Bella began working with a private instructor through the JAS Pays to Play Private Lesson Fund . The fund was created to allow students to take up to three hours of private lessons , funded by JAS , in any instrument discipline of their choosing . For Bella , her instructor immediately recognized her potential and reached out to JAS about funding additional lessons . Those lessons continue today and the results are astounding ! JAS National Council members Donna Di Ianni and Peter Rispolli generously provided the funding for these lessons .
Learning to play music has helped Bella listen to music in a different way and allowed her to make new friends and connections . She loves to play as a way to express her emotion and enjoys when everything falls together .
