THE OPTICIANS EYE VIEW
REPORT
PROFESSIONAL
PORTFOLIO SYSTEM
The Opticians of Ontario recently
showed their true spirit at the
Vision Canada Trade Show and
Professional Learning series held
in Toronto. Their excitement and
engagement in the incredible learning experiences made available,
was evident by the activity on social
media and by the record breaking
attendance numbers.
The implementation of the new
Professional Portfolio system in
Ontario has been a long arduous
journey. That said, we announce
with a positive sigh of relief, Opticians are embracing the opportunity.
The distinction between accredited
learning and non-accredited
(self-directed) learning was abundantly clear as both lecture halls at
Vision Canada were full. Opticians
embraced the concept of selfdirected learning and came to an
understanding of the requirements
in both categories.
The College of Opticians of Ontario
in collaboration with Vision Canada
and the OAC offered small group
workshops relating to the Professional Portfolio system and the OAC
had onsite advisors to guide Opticians to professional learning that
would inject new ideas and resources
into their career or business model.
