Where do you live and how big is
your property?
I live on an 8-acre property in Logan
Village, SE Qld
Marital status:
Divorced. I have two boys, Lane
and Dale. They have ridden a small
amount and hopefully I will be able
to persuade them to ride more. Lane
is a competitive cricketer and Dale is
more into computers.
Are the rest of your family
involved in the horse industry?
My mother was, and still is an active
horseperson, so my brothers and
sisters have all ridden horses.
When did you commence riding and
what was your first horse?
I started riding at seven years and
was an active member of Pony Club
and trail riding clubs. At the age of
14 I was competing in Open Western
Performance Shows, with our two
Quarter Horses, Honky Do and
Riverstones Jo Cilla.
What disciplines did you ride
throughout your life?
At 17 I became a member of the
Beaudesert Cutting and Western
Performance Club and have been an
active member since. I have also been
a committee member for many
years.
What is your favourite discipline
now?
Reining.
How did you get into your favourite
discipline?
During this time I developed an
interest in Reining. I was impressed
with the big stops from speed; fast
turns and circles that the good
horses and riders could do.
Is there someone in your discipline
you admire or you aspire to be like?
I attended lessons and clinics of
trainers I respected, like Ian Francis,
Rick Tranter, Rob Hodgeman, Peter
Gould, etc.

now and is my favourite.
How many horses do you have?
I have two, two year olds I’m starting
right now and also Spinnin Whiz.
Do you breed horses as well as train
and compete?
I have bred my own horses in the
past, but generally buy my prospects
now.
Name some horses you have
trained.
Some horses I have trained and
shown include: -

Intermediate and Limited Open
Southern Series Champion;
Leos Little Beaver - 2006 place
