Forgiveness is Freedom

by Ray Galvan

Luke 7:47

“Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.”

To forgive must come from within, to forgive others we must learn to forgive ourselves. We all make mistakes, some more that others and yes, we fall very short of the Glory of God, but we need to understand that Christ paid the ultimate price for the distance of us where we have fallen and where God’s glory begins. Forgiveness started when Christ was born but it did not end at His death on the Cross nor did it end at His taking His place on the Throne. His mercy is based upon His forgiveness for us and how is was given. But many people have forgotten that we must forgive ourselves before we can forgive others. The pain that we have suffered at the hands of others has kept us prisoners to our unforgiveness. We might even be the ones who have allowed to be hurts by others or just walked right into the suffering. It’s like being in a prison cell, you accept Him, you praise Him but your still inside the cell…. WALK OUT. Forgive yourself for the things you have done and repent…. if you fall…. repent and let His forgiveness envelope you to your fullest.

A prostitute was brought before Jesus as a trap from the Pharisees to show that Jesus did not follow the laws of Moses. She was caught in the act of adultery and according to the law she was to be stoned to death. Jesus followers even knew that this was a trap, but the Lord also knew. He stooped down drawing into the dirt and said. “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” John 8:7 and after everyone had dropped their stones and left He asked her where are your accusers…. she replied that no one was there, and He said that neither He accuses her to go and sin no more. Forgiveness and mercy.

This article is not long because I want you the reader to really spend some time searching your heart, mind and past for those things that you have not let go…..those things that have ripped your heart a new one…. or that person that you said you would never forgive. Look in the mirror and forgive yourself first then forgive those things that caused your pain, your past and that person. Be free because it is written…

John 8:36

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
