The following section shows the similarity in finding the equivalent resistance of a number of
resistive elements.
Linear Resistances in Series:
Figure 1.8 shows three electrical resistors in series and three hydraulic lines in series. Equations 1.5
and 1.6 show how to calculate the equivalent resistivity in both cases.
The calculation in both cases is based on the following two facts:
The flow variable through the resistive elements in series is the same
The total effort variable equals the sum of the effort variables across each element in series.
