When you did you guys decide you wanted to be a music band and how did it all happen?

The Spellz has two members Nas (myself) and Hassan. Hassan and I, we were both making music separately on our own in Toronto. Last year, I composed Bara Ishq and was looking for a guitarist to play lead guitars on it. By chance, I came across one of his past songs and really enjoyed the guitars. I reached out to him and we started jamming on Bara Ishq. He loved the composition and I loved the new feel that he added to the composition. Then, I composed Life Is Fine and let him hear it. After a couple of jamming sessions on just acoustic guitars, it was very clear to both of us that we form a very strong team and need to work together. Slowly we kept developing the relationship and started to understand each others strengths and hence formed The Spellz.

Why did you guys keep your band name Spellz?

I named us The Spellz because when I am making music I go into a very spiritual zone. It's like there is some sort of spell on me. It's a feeling that I am not even there. In that moment, I am not creating music but music is actually creating me. So that's why I called us The Spellz because when I am in process of writing music, it simply casts a spell on me.

Your latest video is 'Sayonee - Turn the Page' by The Spellz and Daniel Weber - how was the experience of working with Daniel Weber & Lynn Moffatt? Why did you guys choose to do a remake of Sayonee, didn't you guys think that it was a bit risky?

Working with Daniel Weber and Ly Moffat was an amazing experience. I have known Lynn for a while. She is an amazing singer, performer and artist herself. She performed on piano on Bara Ishq and Life is Fine as well. And it's always a pleasure working with her. Working with Daniel was a brand new experience. I knew that he will add a lot of value to this project because he is an experienced musician, singer, guitarist and a performer. During the process, I learned a lot from him. The biggest thing that I felt after meeting him was that I on the right path and have the right frame of mind to succeed in this industry. In order to get the level of success that Daniel Weber and Sunny Leone were able to achieve was through focus, hard work, humility, honesty to themselves, patience and a lot of hustling. Those are the things that I find in myself as well. So that was a very good feeling on a personal level that I have the same qualities of successful

individuals. So, it was definitely a learning curve for me to work with Daniel and hopefully we will work more in future.

Sayonee was a massive risk and I love taking risks. If you listen to The Spellz music, no two songs are same. Life is Fine is Blues Rock song. I can't recall any Pakistani singing a Blues song in English. The key for us is to make music without any limitations or without thinking as to what's hot in the market. Junoon was the biggest love for both Hassan and I growing up and we felt that no one has done a good tribute to the greatest band and that we should do it. We knew that there will be many comparisons but for us as long as we put our heart and soul in the project honestly, we would know that we did our best. And now we are happy that people are seeing the hard work we put in for a proper tribute.
