How did you get started as a makeup artist? What inspired the career choices?
Makeup has always inspired me. It is my creative outlet and the perfect way for me to express myself. I would create makeup looks every day and wish I had some way to show off my work to people who felt as passionate about makeup as I did. When I discovered the beauty community on Instagram I became super excited. My career really began on the day I started taking pictures of my work and posting my creations online for the world to see. Instagram has given me this amazing platform to showcase my talent. I’ve made connections on Instagram and met amazing people who have helped me to grow both professionally and personally. I can’t wait to see where my career with makeup goes from here.
How old were you when you became obsessed with make up?
One of my earliest memories is sneaking into our bathroom, getting into my mom’s makeup bag, and putting her favorite red lipstick all over my face. I have been obsessed with makeup for as long as I can remember.
When did you decide “okay, this is it, I’m going to be a professional make up artist?”
Last year was when I really decided to get serious about a professional makeup artistry career. One of my main goals for 2016 is to vigorously pursue a career as a freelance makeup artist. I’m ready to share my passion for makeup with the world. Nothing makes me happier than making others feel beautiful and empowered. That’s why I love makeup so much. I see it give people this amazing confidence. The right lipstick can make you feel like you can conquer the world.
What is your favorite quote?
“Be who you were created to be, and you will set the world on fire.”
Your makeup looks are always breath taking, how do you come up with such great color ideas and styles ?
Thank you! I am inspired by everything around me. When I see beautiful color combinations in nature or when an idea for a makeup look pops into my head, I immediately write it down. If I don’t have any ideas, I just sit down at my vanity and begin playing with different colors. The brighter, the better in my opinion.
What are your favorite mascara and lashes that always makes your lashes so perfect & long lashes?
My absolute favorite mascara is Great Lash by Maybelline. I have used this mascara for years. I constantly try new mascaras, both high end and drugstore, but none seem to compare to my Great Lash. This mascara gives my lashes amazing length and volume. The cheap price tag is wonderful as well. As far as falsies, which I wear on most days, Vegas Nay lashes by Eylure are phenomenal. I always keep a stockpile of Vegas Nay lashes. My favorite style is Shining Star.
Name that one makeup product that is your holy grail?
My Holy Grail makeup product is definitely my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in the shade Chantilly. This is one of those high end products that is worth every penny! This stuff will cover the darkest of under eye circles and it’s the perfect shade for my fair skin tone.
If you could choose one makeup brand for the rest if your life which brand would it be?
That’s actually an easy one for me. NYX Cosmetics without a doubt. I’m such a fan of their products. Their great quality and affordability are awesome. I could create any makeup look I wanted ranging from natural to full out glam with only NYX products and it would be gorgeous. I always recommend NYX to anyone who is looking to experiment more with makeup. They have a wonderful range of colors and products for everybody. I’m a total NYX Cosmetics addict.
