Supporting
James Madison’s Montpelier
YOUR GIFT DRIVES OUR MOST
CRITICAL MISSION: engagement
Together, our efforts to restore the mansion
of Montpelier have succeeded in bringing to life the home and contributions
of James and Dolley Madison to inspire
continuing engagement with American
constitutional self-government.
This transfer of knowledge helps ensure
the strength of our democracy today, and
inspires thousands of young minds every
year – those who will go on to lead our nation for generations to come.
Your gift fuels our ability to grow the
number of students and adults who tour
the mansion, walk the grounds, participate
in our unique educational offerings, and
share their rekindled passion for the Constitution. Philanthropy also helps improve
the quality and authenticity of every visit,
from acquiring new pieces of the Presidential Detective Story to clearing innumerable
limbs from our walking trails in the wake of
heavy snows.
As you consider your philanthropic
strategy for the year, we encourage you to
support James Madison’s Montpelier. Your
generosity will help open thousands of
minds to the power of the principles and
values on which our nation was founded.

In Their Own Words: Letters from Educators
Grant funding from several foundations supports educator seminars at Montpelier.
Funding for the seminars referenced in the letters below was provided by The Charles Fund.
What an extreme honor it was for
me to attend an educational program at James Madison’s Montpelier. …The only way I could have been
able to experience such a wonderful
learning opportunity was because of
your generosity. My students, too,
are grateful because of the learning I transferred to my teaching and
their education. The information I
gained has helped the students understand the Constitution and how
the government works on a daily
basis. I have been able to enhance
my knowledge with the discussions
and research I acquired on this special weekend. Thank you so much. I
will always be grateful for what you
have done for me.
I want to take this opportunity to
thank you for funding the educator seminars at James Madison’s
Montpelier. Due to your generous
contribution, I am able to take
what I learned in the weekend and
transfer it to my classroom. …The
lesson was a constitutional activity
in which we added, defined, or clarified the US Constitution or they
could write their own. They had a
blast with the assignment. A few
of my students stated that it was
one of the best days in (my class).
…It is moments like these in the
classroom in which I am grateful for
those who help educators grow to
become excellent educators.
