HONOR ROWS
Driven by Alert Today Florida, Honor Rows
began in the Jaguars 1995 inaugural season,
as the first-of-its-kind game-day seat
incentive program among professional sports
teams. This unique, nationally recognized
program uses seats at Jaguars home games
as an incentive to encourage youth to set
and achieve ambitious but realistic goals.
Goal setting involves academic achievement,
behavioral improvement and performing
public services. They have also pledged to
not use tobacco, alcohol or illegal drugs.
More than 4,000 youth and chaperones will
participate and sit in the Honor Rows section
this season. Game-day volunteers are provided
by the United Way of Northeast Florida.
Interested non-profit agencies from within
five Northeast Florida counties (i.e., Duval,
Baker, Clay, Nassau and St. Johns only) are
eligible to apply. The flexibility of the program
allows agencies to determine how best to use
seats as motivational goals. Youth must be
between the ages of 9 and 17 to earn their
seat to a game. Since 1995, more than 40,000
youth have earned their seat to a Jaguars
home game.
THE NORTHEAST FLORIDA COMMUNITY ACTION
AGENCY’S (NFCAA)
One of our Honor Row’s groups this year is
The Northeast Florida Community Action
Agency’s (NFCAA).
NFCAA’s mission is
to collaborate with community partners
to stabilize vulnerable households and
empower families in Northeast Florida to
achieve self-sufficiency through education,
employment, and advocacy. Emphasizing
family stability, keeping families together
and getting families back together are
accomplished through their employment,
housing, supportive services and health/
nutrition programs. The Northeast Florida
Community Action Agency has over 200 kids
that met their goal and will be attending
the September 11th game against the Green
Bay Packers.
