“When he plays true to himself and stays
within that realm, he plays at a very high level
for us. That’s the big lesson.”
For 11-year veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis,
the performance was shocking for a team
that seemed to have confidence early in the
season.
“It was a shock that we didn’t play our
personal best, Lewis said in the Qualcomm
Stadium locker room last week. “We can’t
control what they do but it’s what we did. If
we had played our personal best and went out
there and played stout, I would have been
AP IMAGES
able to sleep at the end of the night.”
“This sucks because we know that we have
more. You’ve got to have short-term memory.
Go back, watch the film and get ready for
Baltimore.”
The Jaguars defense struggled throughout the
game, giving up 150 rushing yards – including
102 yards from running back Melvin Gordon
– while quarterback Philip Rivers threw four
touchdown passes and improved to 6-1 alltime against the Jaguars.
“Philip Rivers is an unbelievable quarterback,”
linebacker Paul Posluszny said after the game.
