Jacksonville Jaguars Community Report 2016-2017 | Page 13
As time passed, I started attending Morningside High
School where I met my best friend, Steven Hester Jr.
Steve and I became inseparable and his family became
my second family. One day, when we were riding home
from practice, Steven and I talked about me going to
live with them, and a few days later, after asking his
parents if I could become part of their family, I moved
in. They treated me exactly how they treated their son
Steven. I was expected abide by all the house rules and
as long as I did well in school and stayed focused, they
were with me every step of the way.
When I was recruited by USC, they came to just about
every practice and home game. Their love and support,
and Steven’s friendship, were such positive influences
in my life. I believe that’s the reason why I am where I
am today. Going from a defensive back in high school
to one of the top wide receivers in USC’s history to now
a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, I can finally say
that although I was dealt obstacles, I overcame the
adversity and found my own path to success.
