Pooja Sinha (GLS Law; Singapore) and Satyajit Gupta (Advaita Legal; India) co-authored an article, Doing business in India: Why foreign businesses should care about the IBC, published in the November 26, 2017 issue of the Business Standard, India. The article discusses how foreign businesses should carefully evaluate all contractual or other business dealings in India to avoid and mitigate the risks of being subject to an IBC process, either as a debtor or as a creditor.

Sharon Stolte has been named Managing Attorney for Sanberg Phoenix & von Gontard’s Kansas City, Missouri and Overland Park, Kansas offices. Sharon oversees the communication, recruiting, financial management, marketing and business development efforts of the two offices. Sharon, who concentrates her practice in the area of business and bankruptcy law, particularly in chapter 11 debtor/creditor issues and consumer matters, has more than 25 years’ experience and has represented creditors in all aspects of creditor rights litigation in both state court and bankruptcy court. Sharon often has been an author and speaker for bankruptcy and creditor rights seminars, and she contributes updates for the Missouri Practice Series.

Melinda Teter recently became Vice President of Operations at BMS. Melinda oversees the training and development of all client support and service. Drawing on significant experience as both a BMS Account Manager and a former bankruptcy paralegal, she implements and streamlines case administration processes and procedures. Melinda works hand-in-hand with the BMS software development team to maximize clients' operational efficiency and productivity. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the consumer bankruptcy industry and serves on the BMS Executive Management Team. Melinda is also an active member of ABI and NABT.

IWIRC Georgia co-chair Kelly Waits has been named counsel at Burr & Forman. Kelly works in the Atlanta office and practices in the business section where she focuses on creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. Her practice is primarily concentrated on the representation of financial institutions in connection with distressed real estate and commercial loans.

Natasha Wood (Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP; Calgary), recently co-authored a client bulletin entitled Acquiring and Holding a License or Approval in Alberta is a Privilege, not a Right, on the Alberta Energy Regulator’s revised Directive 67 regarding eligibility requirements for acquiring and holding energy licenses and approvals.
