Evaristo was five years old when I took this photograph in 1985. Resident in a catholic mission in SW Tanzania, Evaristo was an orphan.
He ain't heavy! It is common in the part of East Africa where I lived for the youngest child to be carried by the next older sibling. The title was inspired by the Hollies' 1969 hit "He ain't heavy, he's my brother".
