Rest in Peace is a short story written for IWACA.
W
elcome graduates of all types, I imagine you are
wondering why so many different professions have all been invited to the same seminar. My name is Special Agent Lancaster and for my sins, I am a licensed killer of the dead."
The dark haired, professional looking woman paused as the room erupted with sound. Sarah couldn't help herself anymore than the rest of those present, and turned to the person sitting next to her and said: "What?"
"This is not a joke," Special Agent Lancaster said and the noise quieted down somewhat. "You are all well on your way to being
in the professions that deal with the dead: doctors, nurses, police officers, clergy, fire personnel etc. and I am here to explain to you Special Order Seventeen."
It all sounded very official, but Sarah couldn't help looking around for the hidden cameras and laughing TV presenter. Frankly it was unsettling when there wasn't one.
