A Day to Celebrate All Women written by Shanica Romney & Nohely Koeyers We remember that women as humans have been fighting for equal rights throughout history. Women are usually seen only as the wife or spouse that bare and raise the children, are in charge of the house hold, clean, cook and take care of their husband. Times have changed now and women are accomplishing more than they ever have and are doing the same or even more work than men. All of this progress would not have been possible without the bravery of women who continued to fight, in the past decades, for their rights. Their equal rights. Although there have been changes, there still are women in different parts in the world, such as the Middle East and Asia, who do not have these rights. They are not allowed to get an education or even to drive a car. Their entire life should revolve around their family. With the rise of awareness about women’s rights, there has been a day dedicated to these fierce creatures. On March the 8th, the official ‘Women’s Day’ is celebrated globally, celebrating women and their lives. This day connects all women across the world with conferences and parades that are organized. As quoted from the UN website: “International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities”. Although it may seem that nowadays women have won the battle with equal rights, there still are some unfortunate cases where inequality occurs. Many are paid less than their male counterparts, and the number of women in the politics, sciences and business are still too little. All in all despite all the inequalities that still occur in the world towards women, they have accomplished m
