A prayer to end human trafficking
Opening
Pray The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) through once in its entirety.
"Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your Name."
Good Father, You alone deserve praise in the midst of the chaos and pain of this world.
Your Name is powerful and worthy of honor and respect.
"Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. "
God, we need You. We need Your love, Your goodness, and Your peace in a world
so bent on selfish desires and significant misuse of others. We need You to have control
again here on earth, just as You do in heaven, so that Your ways reign over all others.
"Give us today our daily bread."
Thank you for giving us one more day to love You, to be with You, and to be with others.
Today, please give us opportunities to honor others, to show them respect and value.
Give us passion to fight against injustices, such as human trafficking, for one more day.
"Forgive us our debts,"
Jesus, thank you for taking our place, for paying our debts, and forgiving us
of our debts. Thank you for wiping our slate clean even when we have
committed injustices against those You love.
"As we also have forgiven our debtors."
Please put forgiveness in our hearts towards those who have wronged us,
whether it is a hurtful comment in passing or decades of abuse. Help us
to look past the hurt and love the person as only You can love them.
Help us to release them from the debt we feel they own.
"And lead us not into temptation,"
Holy Spirit, we welcome You into our hearts and minds to guide us away from
desires that contribute to the demand for cheap labor or cheap sex. Guide us
to things that honor all Your people. Teach us to value others in a new way today.
"But deliver us from the evil one."
You know my heart. You know what I struggle with, what my desires are.
Lord, protect me from exposure to the enemy’s traps. Help me to see
Your way of escape. Help me to protect myself, to seek wise counsel,
and to be obedient to Your truth so that the enemy cannot ensnare me.
Closing Prayer
God, for those who are enslaved in human trafficking, we come to You as one body
asking You to set them free. We ask that You provide opportunities for them to escape,
to be exposed to the truth of who they are, who their traffickers are, and how much
You love them. Reveal to us today how we can join You in setting captives free.
Amen.
Letter to authors & designer
Thank you, thank you for contributing
to what I believe is THE most
important aspect of fighting human
trafficking. I believe with my whole
heart that hearts cannot be set
free without Jesus. Your prayers,
submissions, and time contribute to
introducing people to Jesus and to
fighting one of the greatest injustices
known as human trafficking. I value
your partnership in this fight and
appreciate your efforts.
Thank you!
