Home-made Bread and
Butter pudding
Recipe by The Culver Haven Inn, Bembridge
Ingredients Method
Amounts vary according to quantity
needed! 1. Butter your chosen bread
product and layer in a pre
buttered dish.
8 lots of sliced bread/brioche/
croissants, lightly buttered
1 tbsp apricot jam or marmalade
½ pint milk
3 oz sultanas
½ pint double cream
2-3oz Caster sugar
3 eggs
1 tbsp mixed spice
2. On each layer scatter the
mixed spice, nutmeg and
sultanas.
3. When you have three layers
pour over a combined mix of
the milk, cream, caster sugar,
vanilla essence and eggs.

coated in the liquid.
5. Finally grate nutmeg over the
top and cook at 170°C for
about 45 mins to 1 hour.
6. Once the pudding is cold it
can be portioned.
7. The ingredients can be varied,
different bread, chocolate
instead of sultanas etc. This
depends who is making it!
4. Press down on the whole
1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
2 drops vanilla essence
