Eyebrows - shape of things to come

By Karen Douglas-Bhanot , Advanced Permanent Makeup Artist , Carefree Beauty Studio , East Cowes
Your brows are a defining feature of your face , so ideally they should be shaped according to your unique facial proportions . Some brow artists use precise mathematical measurements to create the overall brow shape , but this approach isn ’ t always the best one if you ’ re aiming for a natural look , as your brows can look artificial if they ’ re too perfect . Sisters , not twins , is the aim ! With permanent make-up , we can cheat a bit and create a beautiful brow shape , taking your bone structure and features into account , even if you have little or no natural brow hair ! Here ’ s a quick run-down on the best brow look for the shape of your face : Long Thicker , straight-arched brows will balance the length of your face . Short Longer , thinner brows with higher arches will be most flattering . Oval Shorter brows to create the appearance of larger cheeks will widen an oval face . Heart-shaped You can carry off most brow shapes , except for straight ones . Round Keep the brow ends long ,
medium-thick with an arch . Square Naturally-shaped brows - avoiding dramatic arches or overly flat shapes - will soften an angular face .

You shall go to the ball !

Picking the perfect outfit for a special occasion has been made a whole lot easier with the expansion of one popular Sandownbased business .
The appropriately-named dress hire agency , Posh Frocks moved this summer into a new shop with double the space to display its fabulous range of frocks , hats , fascinators and accessories . Customers now have a choice of over 2,000 outfits , catering for all shapes and sizes , from tiny to XXL . Owner Christine Stringer , who took over the business two years ago after having been a customer herself , says that hiring a dress is the perfect solution when it comes to those weddings , balls , proms , cruises – and of course , Christmas and New Year parties . “ It ’ s much better than buying an outfit for a one-off event and then leaving it hanging in your wardrobe ” she says . Posh Frocks also dresses lots of ladies for many of the Island ’ s charity events – and as a goodwill gesture , they donate £ 10 to the relevant charity , on production of the customer ’ s ticket for the event . If you ’ re thinking of looking for a Christmas outfit , advises Christine , it ’ s always wise to drop by and book it early . Check the shop ’ s Facebook page for opening times or call 01983 289670 and speak to Jenna . You can find Posh Frocks at 29 High St , Sandown , PO36 8DE .
