Fashion, health & beauty
women of over 60 have in
today’s toolbox of holding
off the years. Thank god we
don’t have the once-obligatory
Crimplene dresses, stretchywaisted trousers and sensible
beige shoes and macs. Women
now have an abundance of
choice from the High Street and
online. The biggest problem
women can have at the ripe age
of 60+ are the dreaded bingo
wings: no matter what you do,
you can’t shift them without
going under the knife.
However, fashion has taken care
of this issue by cleverly designing
clothes that mask the dreaded
arm flab. Another huge problem
is weight: all those years of
enjoying your food can suddenly
catch up after 60 and suddenly
you find you can’t shift the
extra pounds. Today’s designers
actually design clothes with this
in mind, and the old saying “big is
beautiful” can be a fact.

Believe it or not, charity shops
play a big role as women young
and old scour these outlets like
swarms of locusts, descending
upon them and devouring them
of any piece of clothing with a
brand name attached to them. It’s
quite clever actually - it gets you
into a brand at a fraction of the
cost. There are also specialised
outlets online that have realised
that the 60+ market is huge and
lucrative, and have invested in
top designers to introduce ranges
that really work and look good.
As you can see, all it takes
to stay young is a trip to the
beautician for those botox
injections and laser treatments,
then a quick trip to the dentist for
a new set of veneers, on the way
out pop into the plastic surgeon
for the uplift then onto the hair
stylist. Before you know it, you’ll
be ready to hit the charity shops
and grab those designer labels –
easy or what!
“Women have a whole
arsenal of weapons to
stave off the effects of
time. Botox and filler
is widely becoming the
norm, although granted,
not all women agree
with this.“
