Motoring Advanced, Sporty and Efficient: Meet The New Ford Kuga New to Premier Ford, the latest generation of the new Ford Kuga will offer customers a more technologically advanced, refined and sportier redesign of one of Europe’s favourite SUV. Prices start from £20,845. The new Ford Kuga is the latest chapter in Ford’s SUV Trilogy, sitting above the compact EcoSport and below the larger Edge. Showcased at 2016’s Geneva Motor show, with the Kuga Vignale, high-specification Kuga Titanium and sporty Kuga ST-Line, it’s safe to say Ford will offer its broadest ever Kuga line-up. The Kuga has spearheaded Ford’s SUV expansion since 2008 and has been one of the Ford’s most successful models with a record 102,000 sold in 2015. On first looks, the new Kuga catches the eye with a bold, sporty stance, sharing a front that has made the new Edge so striking. Restyled taillights complete the sporty look, while a new range of alloy wheels are available in a variety of finishes. A power-operated retractable tow bar automatically stores itself below the rear bumper when not in use, to retain the new Kuga’s sporty looks. Inside, the meticulously crafted interior has been refined to offer an ergonomic, stylish and comfortable experience. The steering wheel and air-conditioning controls are more intuitive, making them easier to navigate. The steering wheel is also offered with heated leather to improve comfort in cold weather, while all automatic models feature paddle-shift controls enabling drivers to select gears whilst keeping both hands on the wheel. New convenience features make the Kuga even more user-friendly such as an easy to operate electronic parking brake that frees room for storage in the centre console. The Hands-Free Liftgate can be opened or closed with a kicking motion beneath the rear bumper, this technology helps parents to easily access the boot when returning to their vehicle with shopping, pushchairs or toddlers. Once behind the wheel of the new Kuga, you’ll discover futuristic-like technology that will keep you connected and entertained. With SYNC 3, the driver can control audio, navigation and climate functions plus connect smartphones using conversational voice commands. By simply pushing a button and saying “I need a coffee,” “I need petrol,” or “I need to park,” you can locate nearby cafés, petrol stations or car parks. The new Kuga will make driving and parking easier too, using sophisticated driver assistance technologies. New Perpendicular Parking enhances the semi-autonomous Active Park Assist technology and will locate parking spaces alongside other cars and parallel to the road, it then steers you in while you control the accelerator and brake. Also offered is an enhanced version of Active City Stop collision avoidance, which uses front sensors to look for stationary objects in the road and pre-charges the brakes if you’re approaching quickly. If you don’t respond the system reduces engine torque and automatically applies the brakes to reduce the impact of collisions or avoid them altogether. Power comes from a range of petrol and diesel engines including a new 120 PS 1.5-litre TDCi diesel offered with front-wheel drive, which has a fuel efficiency improvement of about 5% while producing the same power. Also available is a 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine with 150 PS in front-wheel drive and Ford Intelligent All Wheel Drive.
