Food and drink A vibrant new restaurant has been launched in East Cowes, by owners with a wellestablished background in London as well as on the Island. The atmosphere at Prego is instantly reminiscent of a trendy London eaterie, stylishly modern with a twist. You’ll see from the minute you walk into this welcoming restaurant that a great deal of thought and planning has gone into the project to ensure its success. The owners have scoured Europe looking for unusual fittings, including the two huge feature lights that were acquired from from an old railway station. The tables and chairs have been made especially for this restaurant, with the bases ingeniously crafted from old train brake drums, and solid hand-made wooden tops. Also interesting are the uniquely imaginitive metal cages that hold the wine and drinks – a really quirky feature. The Prego menu is based on pizza and pasta, with one main special dish prepared daily, which offers enough choice for even the fussiest of diners. Prego is open from 10:00am right through to 9:30pm, (Friday and Saturday until 10pm) serving Mozzo coffee, cake and a delicious range of Paninis which are served through the lunch period and early afternoon. The menu offers hand-made pizzas, delicious pasta dishes prepared and cooked the special children’s menu on offer. There’s a good range of wine to accompany your meal as well as a selection of beers and ciders. Another welcome option if you’re in a hurry is the Prego take-away service, on offer six days a week and covering their whole menu. Christmas bookings are now being taken. on the premises, and there are also gluten free options available . There is a good range of starters, mains and desserts to choose from.
