FEATURE Charity Golf Day O n Friday September 25, 2015, the Sandown and Shanklin Golf Club played hosts to Medina Foodservice’s 2nd Annual Charity Golf Day, in aid of three local childrens’ charities – Beaulieu Respite, the Isle of Wight Youth Trust and their guest charity Isle Drive Safe. 54 competitors, including Rob da Bank and Mark King, fought it out on the green, not just for the Medina Foodservice Charity Shield, but for a wealth of raffle prizes and auction lots which were all kindly donated by businesses, clubs and sponsors. Some key lots included VIP Bestival tickets, Level 42 concert tickets, a signed Liverpool FC shirt and a lot of alcohol! The secret raffle prize of a back wax by the Vanity Beauty salon team was awarded to none other than Medina’s Operations Director, Cory Williams, who took one for the team and raised a further £219.50 by encouraging his golfing guests to sponsor him! Tony Wake, Chairman of Trustees at Beaulieu Respite said, “I would like to thank Medina Food Service for holding a wonderful fundraising event. The funds we receive will be wisely spent making our children’s lives that little bit nicer. Without kind businesses and organisations like Medina working on our behalf we simply wouldn’t be able to function.” 22 www.goilife.co.uk is a hole-in-one Not only did everyone have a wonderful day in the sun, but they more than doubled last year’s fundraising achievement by raising more than £4,500! This will be split between all three charities. Eileen Monks OBE, Director of the Isle of Wight Youth Trust said, “We appreciate the effort it takes to organise these events, and Medina did a great job. The money raised on the day will go a long way in helping the 600 plus young people that use the Youth Trust’s services every year and will make a big impact in the community. It was also a great opportunity for our supporters to have some fun and contribute to a great cause and of course, it was amazing to see Rob da Bank and Mark King on the green.” The winners of the day were: • Overall Winner – Jamie Backshall • Nearest Pin 2 Winner – Mark Deacon • Ladies Winner – Ali Bates • Longest Drive Winner – Tom Axford • Nearest Pin Winner – Mike Hoban • ‘Well Played’ Winner – Lora Dixcey Particularly after the success of their 2nd annual event, Medina Foodservice hope to make the 3rd bigger, better and raise even more money for incredible causes.
