Successful start for
Bloodhound opening
meet at Northcourt

I

n the stunning grounds of Northcourt, Shorwell, Mr. and
Mrs. John Harrison welcomed the Isle of Wight Farmers’
Bloodhounds for their opening meet of the new season.
The 47 well turned-out horses and their riders gathered with
Masters Asa Wingate and Roger Broomfield bringing a mixed
pack of seven and half couples of hounds. The pack included new
entries which were bred
the previous year and by
all accounts will make
this season’s hunting a
little keener. One of them
was Editor, a dog hound
that came third at the
Peterborough Hound
Show.
A total of 55-foot
followers together with
the riders enjoyed
refreshments before
moving off for the first
run across the Downs
towards Brighstone.
Hounds finished the last
run at Strawberry Lane
having covered about
10 miles during the
afternoon over wonderful
countryside.
