SOCIAL SCENE Fancy dress charity bash for nurses V ikings and Thundercats, Kings and Queens, big boys dressed as babies, cavemen and flappers were just a few of the many ‘celebrities’ who turned out in force for the annual Fancy Dress Charity Fun Night to raise money for the Breast Care Nurses Fund at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport. There was a truly amazing array of costumes for the fancy dress which had the theme ‘Back in Time’. The event, with a disco, auction and raffle was held at Holliers Hotel, Shanklin Old Village. It was organised by Jamie White in memory of his mother who died of breast cancer three years ago, and raised around £4,850 for the Breast Care Nurses Charity. Jamie said: “I was overwhelmed with the fantastic response and support we received. So many people made such a great effort for a very deserving cause. I would like to thank local businesses and individuals for their wonderful sponsorship, donations, prizes and items for the auction. It simply would not have been possible without them, and on the night everyone was so generous which enabled us to raise so much money.” Pictures available to buy online from our website: visitilife.com 14 www.visitilife.com
