OUT & ABOUT
Caledonian capers galore
There was a real Scottish flavour
at Robin Hill when the latest
Island Highland Gathering
descended on the popular
Adventure Park.
The sights and sounds of
the Highlands – everything
from kilts to bagpipes - were
very much in evidence at the
fund-raising event in aid of the
Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Caledonian capers
included live pipe and drum
performances from some of
the UK's best bands, Scottish
music, dancing, solo piping and
drumming competitions, as well
as whisky tasting and Scottish
food sampling. Visitors were
invited to play the bagpipes in
the ‘Have a go piping’ tent, and
there were plety of volunteers
for the Island’s alternative to
the authentic Highland Games
with youngsters and seniors
testing their skills in a number
of events.
