Yaris ticks all the boxes
It’s new, it’s sleek and it’s so easy to
drive, underlining the fact that as far
as the Toyota Yaris is concerned good
things do come in small packages.
Toyota have been boasting about
their new optimal Drive Technology
for some time, and the Yaris
incorporates this system helping to
increase fuel efficiency and its carbon
footprint.
The new Yaris, which is available
from Wight Motors, College Close,
Sandown is the third generation of
Toyota’s super-mini. I drove the SR
1.33 5 door and found it easy and
comfortable to test.
You don’t have far to look to realise
the Yaris is an award winning car.
The year after its launch in 1999, it
was named European Car of the Year,
and to prove it stands the test of time
only last year it scooped first place for

The new Yaris comes with a choice
of three engines. Petrol options are a
68bhp three-cylinder 1.0-litre and a
98bhp four-cylinder 1.3-litre, while
the range is completed by a 1.4 diesel
with 89bhp.
The drive is smooth and with firm
and responsive steering, you feel in
control at all times, a real asset on
some of the Island’s undulating road
surfaces.
Inside the cabin, there is a real sense
of space considering it is a relatively
small car. There is loads of space in the
front, and there is plenty of head and
leg room in the back.

host of new added features, including
a very useful reverse gear camera, and
can even plan a route for you that is
the most eco-friendly. It certainly is
impressive stuff, and Yaris fans across
the Island are sure to be impressed by
this latest edition.
