OUT & ABOUT
Wolverton
fun for all
There was something for everyone to
enjoy at the 12th annual Wolverton
Manor Garden Fair, which raised
around £14,000 for charity.
Jugglers, dancers, wood carvers and
even the famous replica of iconic film
car Chitty Chitty Bang Bang were all
out in force to entertain the thousands
of people who supported the Fair,
which is the single biggest annual
fund raiser for Age Concern Isle of
Wight.
Although the weather could have
been much kinder, it did not deter the
visitors of all ages who accepted the
invitation of Manor owners Dr. Mark
Patterson and his wife Jane to marvel
at the delights that were on show
in one of the Island’s finest historic
settings.
Mrs Patterson said: “We try to keep
the Fair quintessentially English,
which is loved by everyone who comes
along to join us. We have had several
new volunteers come forward to make
the Fair happen, which is fantastic
news, and should ensure we continue.”
Wolverton Manor was built in the
Elizabethan period, so it was fitting
that dancing from that era took place,
while plant nurseries from the Island
and mainland proved particularly
popular, along with fine food, arts and
crafts.
