BUSINESS A service that meets all families' wishes A Clearview of Wight & Green's new premises Henry Ingram & Son were formed in 1840 and have been serving the Ventnor and district community as Funeral Directors continually since then. The current proprietor Robert Ventress has been with the company since 1976 and Tracy Ward his step-daughter is the Office Manager. Ingram’s pride themselves on being able to conduct all types of funerals with the emphasis of tending to families specific needs and wishes, whether it be burial, cremation, woodland or other. Tracy explained, “Funerals have continued to be carried out generally in a traditional way, even occasionally with Horse Drawn Hearse or Dray, which of course were common place in the Nineteenth and early twentieth century; services are now more personalised to suit the individuals own life experience. On occasions a motor cycle hearse or tractors have been used to transport the deceased. “There have been some changes in the way funerals are carried out over the years; we have found that more flexibility and understanding of the individuals involved is required. Where families prefer we do carry out home appointments to discuss requirements in the comfort of their own environment, and are naturally available 24/7”. Wight and Green, the sole Island agents for Clearview Stoves, have moved from their Gatcombe showroom to their new Clearview Stove showroom which can be found behind the blue gates at the Courtyard, 10 Lugley Street, Newport. Before officially opening in September, there was a well attended informal pre-view evening for friends, family and local businesses to see the transformation of the workshop space that is now home for Wight & Green. Friendly helpful service is their goal; the shop will have an ever changing stock of accessories and gifts. Wight & Green have two Clearview Stoves running at Lugley Street, The Vision 500 and the Clearview 650. Stove fitting, twin wall systems and chimney lining can be all be arranged, and kiln dried logs are available. James Garnett from Clearview Stoves, who attended the preview evening said: “Our dealer network is so important to us at Clearview. We know that the stoves will be sold with knowledge and care. Stoves that are purchased outside of this group result in bad advice and poor aftercare, but our dealers know the product. Both Peter and Matt have visited us at Ludlow many times and the new Wight & Green shop is an outstanding example of a dedicated showroom.” Henry Ingram & Sons Ltd Independent Funeral Directors 12-20 Albert Street, Ventnor PO38 1EZ TEL: 01983 852028 www.henryingramfunerals.co.uk Wight & Green 10 Lugley Street, Newport PO30 5HD TEL: 01983 520316 www.visitislandlife.com 127
