More than 70 volunteers have helped to
run the dig. It sounds a lot, but it's taken
careful management of resources to ensure
that all aspects of the support organisation
have been adequately covered throughout
the three-week period – and beyond as
visitors continue to be shown around the
site. This year’s dig has made the story of
villa development so much clearer. There
may not have been any buried stonework to
expose but, we've now got a much better
understanding of the people who occupied
