move
with the
times
Hamilton’s Butchers, a family-run, business
has decided there is a ready-made
opportunity to move with the times.
Andy & Kerry Gustar, the company’s
owner-proprietors, has run the business for
over 17 years on the Island and feels it is
now time for the business to move forward.
"The butchery business has changed over
the years, it's not like it was 17 years ago.
My son Ian, who has recently joined the
business alongside my daughter Kerry, has
brought in some exciting new ideas."
Working as a team the Gustars plan to
launch a range of ready-to-cook meals which
will all be made at their main depot located
in Newport.
Work has also taken place on streamlining
the business. Ian explained: "There is a lot
of technology out there that we can take
advantage of. This technology will streamline
current working practices which will make
the business more effective in these current
tough times.
“We are all working very hard towards
modernisation without compromising our
commitment to high quality local food."

Food & Drink Awards back for 2011
The Island Life Food & Drink Awards
presentations will be back on the
menu in 2011, and hopefully it will be
bigger and better.
Island Life is pleased to announce
that the popular awards, which were
held in 2007 and 2008 but suspended
for this year due to the difficult
economic climate, have been penciled
in for November next year.
Martin Potter, the awards organiser,
proprietor and editor of Island Life,
commented: "The cost of running the
awards was a major concern in this
economic climate and for that reason
I took the decision to place them on
hold. Sadly, there were businesses
