life SOCIETY Jazz in the open air Over 300 people attended the seventh Woodvale Jazz Festival at Seaview in August. Organiser Rod Burman commented “This year’s festival has been especially well attended, and it would be very difficult for us not to do it again next year.” The evening raised additional money from the sale of raffle tickets, with proceeds going to various Island charities. As our photos show, many visitors came equipped with their own gazeboes to protect themselves from the elements - although in the event they were not needed as the evening’s weather was perfect. Music came courtesy of Island-based jazz band The Unity Stompers. 52 Island Life - www.isleofwight.net
