Jackie Phillips and Rachel Foy established The Real Island Food Company earlier this year to satisfy a growing demand for local food. They have set up a very comprehensive website and online shop, coupled with a delivery service that will bring all your shopping to your front door, holiday cottage or workplace. "We're setting out to increase the number of people who buy local food, making it interesting and convenient. There is so much wonderful produce here on the Island and the reality is that not everybody can get to the existing outlets" says Jackie. "Our customers vary from busy mums to retirees with limited transport, as well as those out at work all day." Rachel adds: "We've spent the last few months visiting lots of local producers and have been really excited by the quality, taste and sheer choice of Island produce. We offer everything you need for every meal, from a great British breakfast to a sophisticated dinner party, including wine and beers." The tone of the website www.realislandfood.co.uk is friendly and informative - the girls' personalities and enthusiasm shine through. As well as going shopping, you can find information about all the suppliers, links to the Farmers Markets, information about Island farming activities plus lots of inspiring food ideas that tempt your tastebuds and provide an extra excitement at meal times. Jackie and Rachel are clearly passionate about the Island and especially life Jackie Philipps company.
